We live in quite a dull world when you think about it. Fashion for the vast majority tends to lean towards what Pantone would call ‘DEATH BLACK’ and ‘ENGLISH SKY GREY’. It’s not good when you are a person who dreams of wearing all the colours of the rainbow, living all the colours of the rainbow. Basically, yes, i’m obsessed with colour and I really wish more people were too. So, the aim of this article is to get you to be more into colours, so maybe I can convert you all into the cult of rainbow. How fun does that sound. Aren’t cults fun!
What has happened between the 1960’s and now because when i look at what fashion used to be in it’s use of the colour palette and creativity with vibrant patterns it makes me sad that fashion has kind of forgot that colour actually exists in this world and we don’t actually live in a black and white silent film. All i’m asking is that we add more colour into the material we cover our bodies with. Add colour, pattern, sparkles and images. Why does everything has to look so blasé when we wear it every day. We are peacocks, all of us are, even if we choose to say we would prefer not to bring attention to ourselves. Every one wants to be noticed in some capacity and to me colourful clothing is the first step in doing this.
Now for clothing I was being very literal with my use of the word ‘colourful’. Clothing just simply needs more colour and pattern. In the case of homes though, colour is a must yes, but colourful should also apply to a homes structure, it’s architecture and design. Homes are just as important as clothing in expressing what we believe in society. They are a way of defining ourselves and so we must start to build homes that express individuality more. Homes need to be more colourful so we can start to realise that humans are a curious, artistic and individualistic species with a very diverse way of living.
Much like homes, books also need to define what being human is. They have a large job of entertaining and so for the most part books need to start having more unique narratives, ways of writing and plots that stray from the norm. This is because in a society blinded by technology people are starting to get the attention span of goldfish, so we need to provide more colourful books that create fireworks in the minds of even the dullest of our species. We are turning into a weird bunch, and colourful books need to reflect this vibrant future of ours.
Finally, a colourful personality is just as important as anything else in our lives being colourful. Our unique traits make us colourful people, so we must exaggerate these traits. You will find that if many people do something then the rest will follow. So why not all show how weird we really are. It’s not up to others to day whether we should be black and white or rainbow. Colourful people have always existed and they will exist many millions of years after the last dull person makes their happy transformation into a colourful person.
