In the modern world it's easy to become overwhelmed with expectations of how we should look and think and dress and act. Life has become a performance, a way to set out in impressing others that we live side by side with. It's odd, and I really don't think this was the purpose of life when it was developing.
It's the little things that make us who we are. I've always said that to be human you have to be different and that doesn't just mean the way you act and speak. Your personality is the part of you that you can decide to control, the majority of us can dictate what we say, so for all of us thats the best way we can be in control of how the rest of society perceives us.
What we look like and how people view us on the outside and at a distance is something we have less control over. Yes, we can plaster on makeup, style the hair on our heads and exercise to build our muscles to get that perfect aesthetic all humans apparently long for, but really we have very little control. It’s mostly about luck when it comes to looks. At least in the superficial sense.
The thing is though, much like we control our inner selfs, we can to a point, control the outer self too. Its about positive thinking. If we feel positive then it will show on the outside more. A smile can do wonders even if it’s a day where we really don’t have anything to smile about. It shows strength and dignity to smile and silently tell the rest of the world that no biological thing can beat you.
Thats why I love to see body positivity and people who don’t care about the judgments of others. Uniqueness is an achievement in a world of sheep led by shepherds. It’s not something that you have to try hard to do either. Every day we can move further away from the old ways of thinking. We can see the world as opportunity to express ourselves. If the majority did this then our world would be a lot more colourful and positive. I think we would achieve more as a society. The world wouldn’t have that dark shadow of wickedness cast over it that there is right now.
There would be light and cheerfulness that would make us all wake up early on a morning and smile that the world is awake with us. That’s the only way we can advance and be better people. It’s simple really, to be a decent human being. I think people who judge others so much are also lacking in the confidence that they are trying to take from others. It’s a vicious circle that we all need to get out of. Be nicer to each other for goodness sake, what is it possibly going to take?
