It’s been a stressful few months for everyone. I’m sure nobody can say they have never been stressed. I mean, it’s a natural human reaction that can possibly be an indicator that you are going to soon find some success. We can’t be stressed unless we are doing hard work? Right? It’s always so far fetched some of the things you hear about how to be happier when you feel so down and sad. Sometimes the things that are suggested feel empty, like the person writing it has never actually experienced how it really feel to be unhappy and anxious. Believe me, i’m an expert in this field.
1) Outside and Fresh Air
One of the worst things you can do when you are feeling down is to keep yourself secluded from nature and the fresh air. It’s widely known that nature will relax us. I even wrote about that in depth- What we need to remember is that seeing the same four walls, whether at work or home, will be sure to keep you down and depressed. It’s a vicious circle.
2) Close Your Eyes
Sometimes we also need to block out every single little distraction to truly be relaxed. It’s good to see nothing but the soothing darkness when we feel like we have been overexposed by the chaos of modern life. Seeing nothing can be a good thing, and you will immediately feel the benefits of sitting somewhere, even if it is a busy place, and artificially hiding from the world
This kind of goes with the last point. the world is a noisy place. People think they can say everything that comes into their heads when it’s hurtful and rude. Silence is a rarity that we should find. Even if it’s just a few minutes every day. All that noise is certainly stressful, so relax with complete seclusion and silence. Maybe it is except-able to hum or chant in a whispery tone, but that’s it. Be so silent you can hear each breath and focus on it. I think the introvert in me is taking over.
4) Good Things
It’s good to treat yourself now and then. I don’t much like material living and the idea of a throwaway society, but buying something you like can be a form of relaxing therapy. It makes us happy to finally buy something that we have always wanted. Remember, this shouldn’t be something pointless. It’s approaching two years since I bought the best thing that i’ve ever spent money on… my dog Barnaby.
5) Animal Interaction
So about Barnaby. He helps me cope with the challenges of life, and a pet can do this for you too. Perhaps your not really ready for the commitment that a pet involves, so why not take advantage of the numerous pet rental and sitting websites and apps that are cropping up now. I’ve never tried them because i’ve got my own dog to focus on, but I think animals provide the ultimate therapy and relaxation fix, undeniably.
